Woke with usual mix of pain and distress over starting yet another cycle of:
- should I go back to bed or
- start the routine of sitting too long at my computer or
- take my morning meds or
- head downstairs for coffee... Today I'm at Jay and Sheila's in Bristol, RI - so trip is down stairs not over to strbx or Jo's in Austin or the 1369 in Cambridge - so my disorientation and agitation might be explained by the disruption of living out of a suitcase and waking to yet another change of routine...
So, after cup of coffee and a challenging trip back UP the stairs - I elected to take another small step in the right, if not a better direction hence the title of this posting - always great to have choices and to know how to climb stairs without falling - so I sent this note of thanks to Jen at RIC [note: Jennifer Kahn is one of the physical therapists who coached me to re-learn how to walk and to then then progress through walking without a cane to climbing stairs]

jen-
Thanks for your note yesterday alerting me to the Am.Med.News article.
If you're on the 8th floor in the next couple of days, do pause and take a moment for re-affirmation of what I'm telling you this morning:
My leg was throbbing and so tight as to make me unsteady on the stairs on my way back up to shave after my first cup of coffee this morning BUT I righted myself and as if you were hovering on the stairs with me, I recalled to STEP UP with the good leg!
So, as advertised by the poster [that I hope is still hanging on 8th floor at RIC]: "I'll never start a run or a day[e.g. today] without thinking of your contribution to my recovery and my quality of life."
Thanks again to you and all at RIC!
